Mission
he Biwako Sunset Yacht Club is an active yacht club based at the Yanmar Sunset Marina on the eastern bank of the Biwako Ohashi Bridge. Beginning as a gathering of volunteers with a connection to Lake Biwa, the club was established with the goal of achieving a sustainable society.
The club aims to popularize and spread yachting and other marine sports by promoting activities to foster cultural awareness and nurture the next-generation of yachters, and through these activities, offer exciting marine experiences while encouraging friendships among club members.
Message from the President
On this occasion, a group of people nurtured by Lake Biwa who have a deep fondness for the lake have come together to establish the Biwako Sunset Yacht Club. Since ancient times, Lake Biwa has supported the lifestyles of people around the lake, and in more recent years, it has been a well-loved spot bringing enjoyment and happiness to innumerable people as a mecca for marine sports.
The club’s mission is to “popularize and spread yachting and other marine sports by promoting activities to foster cultural awareness and nurture the next-generation of yachters, and through these activities, offer exciting marine experiences while encouraging friendships among club members.” Toward achieving this vision, we will work to educate young people and carry out exchanges with other countries, as well as contribute to the local community.
Our dream is that through these activities, we will contribute to the popularization and spread of yachting and other marine sports, enabling as many young people as possible to become successful sailors.
We kindly ask for the continued support and cooperation of everyone who supports the purpose of our club.

Activity 01
Holding club race and seasonal events
Club members hone their sailing skills through biweekly league competitions, with awards given to the teams who win the most points over the year. We are committed to running the kind of club where members can not only enjoy sailing, but also spend quality time relaxing while taking in the scenery of Lake Biwa during training, deepening friendships with other club members at cherry blossom sailing events and Christmas parties, and much more.

Activities for fostering the next generation
Sailing experiences can support the healthy physical and mental development of children, as well as uncover future talents that can lead to wide global success. We provide a place to learn not only sailing skills, but also languages and culture, with the best sailors competing globally today invited to come and give lectures. In collaboration with nearby universities and local communities, we work to nurture next-generation yachters and cultivate cultural awareness.

Exchange with other clubs including those from overseas
We promote peaceful exchanges with domestic yacht clubs, and conduct activities such as club races and overseas expeditions for our members.
History
Yanmar Sunset Marina was born in 1968 with great expectations from boat owners.It was not just a place to store ships, but a gateway for people to experience the extraordinary. As time has passed, this marina has nurtured the thoughts and dreams of many sailors.
The Lake Biwa Sunset Yacht Club was established in February 2023 to inherit that history, thoughts and dreams, and take a new step forward.

Biwako Sunset Yacht Club established
The Biwako Sunset Yacht Club was established in February 2023.
We worked to establish our foundation as a general incorporated association with Mr. Atsushi Horiba appointed as the first club president.
In November 2022, we began carrying out activities as a club, starting with monthly rallies.
